How to reach le Marche

There are various options for traveling to Le Marche:

By car
If you plan to come to your holiday destination by car, it is advisable to do it in 2 days. The distance from Utrecht is approximately 1600 km, so quite a lot to cover in one day. This of course depends on whether you pass through Switzerland or Austria, and of course where you live in the Netherlands or Belgium. Austria is around 80 km away, but is cheaper because you do not have to buy an expensive vignette in Switzerland. In Switzerland you pass through the Gotthard tunnel, where there are often huge traffic jams during the high season. Another alternative is to drive across France and take the Fréjus tunnel. You then drive via Milan to Bologna. Here is the exit for Ancona-Pescara, the A14 is the motorway along the coast. You must take into account the somewhat chaotic driving style of the Italians, the narrow escape lanes, the short insert lanes. But this is also the Charm of Italy ...

By plane
It is faster and cheaper to fly. There are several options, described below in order of the best option:

Düsseldorf-Weeze to Ancona and Pescara Airport with Ryanair

Renting a car in Italy
If you are flying then it is necessary to rent a car immediately. Public transport is well organized in Italy, but since our accommodations are almost all remote and / or in the hills, you can't live without a car! Online it is easy to find the cheapest provider at the airport where you arrive.

Public transport in Italy
The railway line runs along the entire coast. In addition to the slow trains and intercity trains, there are also the Freccia Bianca and Freccia Rossa speed lines. Unfortunately there is no stop in San Benedetto del Tronto for the latter. There are also express buses that take you directly to Rome or Bologna. There are various companies for this and they all drive several times a day. There are also 2 companies that drive directly to the airports in Rome: De Flixbus and Gasparionline.
